Yeah, my mum made me get the most heinous Leotard secondhand, and it looked like a clown. It had a big frill across the top.

So what do you you let's start from like I think we kind of covered off quite a bit in the history episode. Um and as we know, uh BJP, we were all one and the same back in the day. Um it took

We all started in the heinous tunic

a while for a split-off to happen. So we were all in a heavy tunic, heavy linen tunic with black tights underneath. And and it was just like Catholic schoolgirl winter uniform, like the um pinafore. Oh yeah. The black tights. Yeah, and like no skirt, just all all in one situation, um, very covered. And then slowly, like, you know, they ditched the tights, they got socks and the ballets, and the tunic got shorter and shorter, and then at that stage, yeah, chucked that thing in the bin. Um, I think, you know, uh Edith Parsons

split away and they kept that skirt basically, um, that you could sort of attach to a leadard. And then and then we just BJP, we just lost all of our clothes until we got down to this get up. Seriously. Like with the uh skin coloured mesh cutouts and a bit of boobage. Oh yeah.

This little this little puppy apple. Um, some of it they did well to get rid of. Yeah, I know. Yeah. Um so all the codes, yeah, they were all rocking around in those shoes. Yeah, the ballets. Um, and some of them actually matched the leotard, which I'm not mad about. Yeah, you're like a matchie. Um the only difference was how the elastic was done up around the ankle. Um, EP still had the skirts, and um, after I had to wax yesterday to prepare for the Leo, I was like, oh, now I know why EP still

Um unlike, oh, and Lee's the Lee School of Fizzy, they also have the skirt because they're a sort of a breakaway of EP. Yeah. But they made their skirt optional. So if you just want to rock around in a Leo, you can go for your life.

Um unlike Apta, who have like their performance wear is like ready to go when it's shipped to you, um, you know, EP can like we s um spoke about with Nikki, they can make their own and put as many Di Montis um as you like. They can do like little like these meshy skin colour cutouts. Not below the bra line. Yeah, no, she got she got whooped for that.

Um and then on the I think quite a lot of people messaged in to us when you said, I think I'd want to do fishnets over shimmers. No, that's a big note. And they were like, oh no, it would make your legs look like huge. And now that I've got them on, I'd comp like it it's gonna add an extra mil to your leg. My legs don't need that. No, no one's legs need that. But also you'll never catch me dead in a leodide. Apart from now, obviously. I don't like these fishnets. I'm really glad that BJP effed them off. Well, no, there's still people who wear them. I know, but they're so uncomfortable. What are you girls thinking? Those stirrups have been cutting into the bottoms of my feet. I know, I know, I can't even wear fish. My legs are too long for fishnets. This is the one thing that benefits short girls. Yeah, fitting into ties. Fit into them. Yeah, I know. And so, um, our good friend Jen wrote in the funniest info about fishnets. So,

apparently there's an issue if you decide to if you decided to wear the fishnets without undies. Nah. And as soon as I heard this, my labial just sucked up inside of my vagina like a snail. And there's a long-standing joke in the biz about the cross hatch vag. Yeah, no, I was like, oh, you've got to wear undies with fish nets.

Western Zone performance wear rules

Oh my god. Um, when uh WZ was still around, Western Zone, all the girls wore the same leotard style in the same colour, yeah, individual comps, and their thinking was that it removed any judge bias around how the colour played out on your skin and whatnot.

Oh, just tell me what to wear. Done. If it doesn't look good on me, there's nothing I can do about it. Um, and it leveled the playing field for competitors. The styles were different for each age group, and they changed them every two years, but everyone wore the same thing. Um, they got creative in later years, and the senior section all had the same style, but each club could choose what colour they wanted. So, yeah, you kind of turn up like a team in your colour, I guess, but then you go out and do your individual. Um, I don't hate that. Yeah. It's kind of like team camaraderie. Yeah. Um, so yeah, that's like the history of yeah, so we're at the performance wear. Right.

I don't know. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what it really looks like. And I'm very interested to see like I'm assuming it's meant to be tight, like everything else we wear. But if it's got De Montes and I feel like with the um holograms, yeah, they've got to almost upsize and go like I think I've got a 14 or like at least a 12 in the hologram stuff that I've got. And the Panther, because the print on it makes it kind of quite hard. It's not stretchy anymore. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you I think you're gonna have to upsize, and I'm very interested to know what it's like to get on. And do the DeMontis stay on? Like, do they pop off? Are they like down?

Oh like I saw the ronde come out and I was like, mmm, don't like how it puckers like when you do the front cross and then you get that little some people it doesn't do that too. It's it's a weird cut. Yeah, it's a fine. It's so weird. It's just and then when you put it to the side, one side's tight and the other side's loose, because it's also meant to go like fully crossways, so it needs a bit of give. Um, yeah, I just I always just sit back and I wait and I watch to see what it looks like. I'm a very late adopter on that. So I will wait and see what these ladies look like, but I'm sure they'll look lovely. Oh, there's excitement brewing though in the um in the BJP fizzy world. Yeah, I'm guessing, yeah, like you said, it's it must be to something to go over the top of something else. Yeah, I think so. Because it looks quite see-through, doesn't it?

And that the fact that you can go up a size and the length does not improve. So, like for tall girlies like me, or if you even if you've just got a long torso, um, your belly's just popping out all over the place, and it really takes your mind away from the work when you're in the middle of a comp that you're like, oh god, I know I'm sticking out right now. Um, unless you're fully glued in. Oh, that's why, yeah, if you've got a glue, and that's why a lot of people still wear Leos. I know. Leo's with pants over the top's not a bad plate. Yeah. But I don't think you can get a Leo anymore because dance design's been turfed. Yeah, but they have BJP Leos.

And it's just well known that's where you go to get it. Well, can't you just send out swatches?

Yeah. Like, because the swatches on the website, they're always like, oh, well, there may not be true colours because that's hard, right? Well, yeah, because of the um it's because of like the screens and stuff like that.

I was using Bondi Sands last year. Um, but I was I was having to do like two at least two coats, maybe a third. One coat. That looks really it's nice and um like it's not orange. No, and it's got no smell.

Because it was more of a lighter where I think performance wear's a blend. So it's yeah, it's got more um like that buttery, soft where all active wear's going. Yes, like Lilo active, like it's soft and it's buttery and it's sort of fuzzy. Yes. But I feel like when you're performing, you kind of want something a little bit more jazzy, like that picks up the light, doesn't suck the light in it, reflects the light. And those black and the sapphire blue popped unbeatable, like such a nice colour, um, and just yeah, a really nice reflective quality that um I think everyone's missing. Yeah, a bit bummed. And I'm just I had a really nice set. Um, it was the flare top. Yeah. It's what I wore when I won my like I placed. Sentimental. Yeah, very. And it and I love mesh cutouts. Yes.

Yeah, and so I was like, it's perfectly good. Like, we all take care of our activewear, it's got the logo on it, it's in good condition. Like, do we have to look so similar? I don't know. Like, I actually love seeing this old stuff. How good is it? See, that's the black. It is a shimmery. And it's

Um, I think I would kiss anything with a hologram. Ooh, yeah. Okay. Really love hologram. There's not enough of it. Black Panther was good, but it's more just like um, you know, like a treatment. Whereas I love like psychedelics. Yeah. Generally speaking, yeah, I do. Any any anything from the psychedelics division, I'm all on board. Um, Mary, I love pants. I love that we don't have to wear layouts. I'm a hundred percent committed to pants. You can keep your goddamn modesty skirt. Not about it. Give me the pants. And modesty skirts doing nothing for me. They are cute, though. They do look really good. Like girly and feminine, and I do love that. But I'm just so happy that we've got pants. Now that I've got this goddamn lead heart on, I'm so happy we've got pants. Um kill these fucking fishnet tights. I hate them. I hate everything about them. They that they got hot I put holes in them putting them on. I would 100% be a shimmer lady if I had to wear something, and these are not it. They're not it. They're disgusting. I hate them.

I remember seeing them and I was like, who's wearing that? Well, I was just confused as to like how they were saying, oh, it can go cross the front, cross the back. Um, it can do one-sided. And I'm like, how is it doing one-sided if you can also cross it over at the front? The straps would be so long, but they just does kind of work. They're they were right. They were right. I should have trusted the process.

They're probably like all these designers have like doing iterations of them and they're like shut it, Renee. We know what we're doing. We've got it. Yeah, I probably I'd marry that and I would sorry, every other code, I'd kill the Leo. I just not for me.

It's just a follow-up question. How do you choose your performance wear? Like, what what do you what do you base it on?

Um, I'm like, well, you know what? There's not a lot of like styles to choose from in

How do you pick Performance Wear?

the new BJP performance wear. Like, if you look at this, there were so many different leotards. They had like this little booby cover, they had like cutaways, they had um like ruging, they had yeah, oh, so many different things going on. Now it's just like all the same thing, which yeah, like I get why they're doing it, but it's just like I could do with a little bit more adventure, like a bit more bring back the mesh. And um, so I'm all about colour. Colour? Because that's the only differentiator for me is the colour now.
